Somali Government Denies Claim
By MOHAMED ODOWA 07/30/2011
Al-Shabaab Spokesman Sheikh Abdi-Aziz Abu-Musab claimed that his fighters on Friday morning killed an American military expert working with African Union troops during the ongoing clashes in Mogadishu, at a press conference in the Suuqa-Holaha village in Huriwa on Saturday.

According to the brief statement by the spokesman, the shooter of the American military expert was a young al-Shabaab fighter who opened fire on foreigners.

“Our fighters have confirmed the death of an American man who was training the African forces in Mogadishu which had just started to attack our bases in Hodan and Bakara Market areas," said the spokesman.

He said that there is no doubt the African Union peacekeeping (AMISOM) troops are getting support from the western governments, including the US and French, which he says they will regret their support of the Somali government.

“He was white man and an American military expert. We are fully aware that more westerners are fighting alongside our enemy which is also the enemy of Allah,” said Abu-Musab.

The spokesman claims that they got this information from an al-Shabaab sources planted within the Somali government.

“He was killed in the area of Hodan on Friday as he was assisting AMISOM soldiers. He was rushed to the African troop’s bases where he was later confirmed to be dead,” said the spokesman.

“We are calling all the Muslims to come here to Somalia and fight the enemy of Allah and the infidels whether they are black, red or white because they are fighting together against us," said Sheikh Abdi-Aziz Abu-Musab.

The head of Somali government operations, Abdi-Karin Yusuf Aadan, (Dhega-badan) denied the claims.

"They lost many fighters during in the recent clashes in the capital so they are trying to boost the morale of their own troops. We will continue our war against them," said General Dhega-Badan.
